Liturgical Ministry

"There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit;
there are different forms of service, but the same Lord."

(St. Paul letter to the Corinthians, Chapter 12: 4-5)

Nancy J. Rofrano, Director of Liturgy, 281 333-3891, Ext 33

Liturgy is the focal point of spiritual life at St. Paul. When we enter into our sacred place, we immediately encounter our baptismal font. Baptism is the first sacrament of initiation into the Christian community. In baptism we die to sin and we rise with Christ to a new life - a life that reflects Jesus Christ. Jesus showed us a life of service to one another. Our baptismal call challenges us to share our gifts of service within our Church community.

As a Christian we understand that volunteering is not something we do if we have extra time, rather it is our duty in following our Lord and Savior. I invite you to prayerful consider joining one of the many ministries outlined below. Pray to the Holy Spirit for guidance as you bring your gifts to God's holy people.

Altar Servers

The Altar Server Ministry is one of the most rewarding opportunities for youth at St. Paul. God calls us to serve, and altar servers provide an important service to our parish life. This is a wonderful opportunity for our young people to be involved in the parish team, learn about service and learn more about Mass while becoming an integral part of the celebration of the Mass.
Qualifications and Requirements: Boys or girls, who have received the sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation / Penance and Eucharist. Training sessions are required. Please call: Rex Moses, 281 335-9064

Extra Ordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

Extra-Ordinary Ministers of Holy Communion assist the ordinary ministers (priest and deacon) of Eucharist, with the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ at Mass and other liturgical celebrations. Additionally, there are members specially trained to bring Eucharist to parishioners who are in the homebound, hospital or extended care facilities.

Training sessions are required. Please call: Ed Skeeters, 281 335-8015

Lectors

The lectors at St. Paul are privileged to carry on the ministry of being messengers - proclaimers - of God's word. As a lector, you are entrusted with some of the most wonderful stories - and it is through these stories that God continues to speak. Lectors challenge and comfort. They are the ministers of communication - the storytellers of the community. Lectors bring the word of God to life!
Qualifications and Requirements: Registered parishioner with dedication to proclaim the Sacred Scriptures - and continued skilled formation at weekly rehearsals. Please call: Pauline Liggio, 281 486-0748

Greeters/Ushers

By offering a warm WELCOME to those coming to Mass, the ladies and gentlemen of this ministry see to the needs and comfort of all parishioners at all liturgical celebrations. They are the official hosts. By their presence, conversation and actions, they make all who enter feel welcome by offering a smile and a word of welcome.
Qualifications/Requirements: Registered parishioner.
