Through the Sacrament of Reconciliation we are reconciled with God so why not take advantage of the Lenten Penance Services offered in our area?
Confession helps us to get back on the path that God intended for us. The relationship with our Lord is strengthened and we are able to see Christ’s light in our life. The following are Lenten Penance Services that will be taking place at churches in our area:
March 15: St. Hyacinth’s – Deer Park
March 22: St. Bernadette’s – ClearLake
March 23: Mary Queen – Friendswood
March 25: St. Paul’s – NassauBay
QuarterLife Musical
“A Dance with God”
Save the date for August 14-15 at 7 p.m., as our talented QuarterLife young adults present "A Dance with God." This full-length intense drama with a Catholic twist features the amazing talents of St. Paul's young adult ministry. Join them as they display six true testimonies in dialogue and song. Tickets go on sale late July. All proceeds will go to support the young adult mission trip to Latin America next summer.
We are so excited to display our love for our King and show our worship to Him in this unique way. One of the neatest things about this drama is that the stories are real, and they all represent our faith. We really hope that you will support this even and our ministry as we take the first step in establishing a sister parish in Latin America. Thank you for your support!
Stations of the Cross and this Week’s Soup Supper
The entire community is invited to participate in our weekly Lenten meatless meals and Stations of the Cross every Friday evening between now and Good Friday. Please note: Stations of the Cross in Spanish are from 6-6:30 p.m. The supper is served from 6:30-7:30 p.m. and Stations of the Cross in English are from 7-7:30 p.m.
Handy with a Needle and Thread?
This year's Easter vigil on Saturday, April 3, provides our community the extraordinary experience of celebrating Christ's resurrection for the first time in our new church and welcoming a large number of new Catholics to our beautiful faith. As you know, our new baptismal font allows for the baptism of adults by immersion. This practice, powerful in symbolism and imagery, features the catechumens who will be baptized wearing white garments that are similar to the albs worn by priests. We are in need of volunteers to create a collection of these albs to be worn by the adults who will be baptized. All materials will be provided by the church--we just need the talent to make it happen. If this is an area where you can share the talents God has blessed you with, please contact Heidi Clark.
Live Auction Donations Needed
St. Paul's parish bazaar is set for Saturday and Sunday, May 1-2. An important part of this annual fundraiser is the live auction, which is made possible through the generosity of parishioners and community supporters. Popular items are vacations, tickets to high-profile sporting events, collectibles, fishing and hunting excursions, cruises, gourmet dinner parties, hot air balloon rides, and more. Whether you have something you can contribute personally or have access to a community business owner who'd be willing to donate something to help ensure this event's success, your help is definitely needed. Please contact Heidi Clark at 281.333.3891 ext. 328.
Gabriel Project Needs Volunteers
Under the best of circumstances, pregnancies are often marked with fear and anxiety. Crisis pregnancies, however, are all that and much more. Won’t you please consider volunteering some time to help an expectant mom dealing with a difficult pregnancy? Our parish Gabriel Project ministry works with moms to help make their crisis pregnancies more manageable by providing them with the material goods they’ll need to be ready to welcome their babies with open and loving arms. Training and support is provided. This is an excellent opportunity for women of all ages—and even families—to reach out and speak up for the value of every human life through the good works you do. An information meeting, where potential volunteers can find out more, is scheduled for this Tuesday evening, March 9, at 7 p.m. in Beck Hall. You can contact Doreen Quinones at dquinones53@gmail.com for more information or call Heidi at 281.333.3891 ext. 328.
Has someone recently invited you to Adoration? It is probably the Holy Spirit working through a friend. Why not RSVP with a "yes" by scheduling an hour? You don't have to carry an hour alone - sign-up with a partner or support an existing adorer. All hours are available. Adorers are needed especially for 12 a.m. Wednesday & Thursday, 1 a.m. Wednesday, 9 a.m. Friday, and 4 & 5 p.m. Friday. For more information about Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration or to schedule a weekly hour, please call Malina Wojtkowski at 281.532.2567.
This is Your Parish – Stewardship is much more than giving of your time, talent and treasure. Stewardship is truly acknowledging, before God, our responsibility in giving back for all God has given us. As we embark on a new effort of stewardship, please pray that the Lord will stir in every person who calls St. Paul’s home a deep desire to give to the Lord from their first fruits, for God will not be out done in generosity.
“When you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.” – Matthew 6:6
The Inner Room prayer group will meet every Sunday, starting on March 14th, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the Old Chapel. It is free and open to all . The Inner Room is a prayer group dedicated to the kinds of Christian prayer that seek the presence of God “who is in secret.” This prayer is a “gaze of faith” focused on Christ. It emphasizes silence, listening, and seeking God’s presence. It is the simplest, most pre-eminently intense form of prayer. Called “Contemplative” in the Catechism of the Catholic Church (2709-2719), it recognizes that God’s very presence is the “reward” promised by Jesus in Matthew 6:6. We will pray this simple prayer together and support each other in our efforts to integrate contemplation into our daily lives. Please come and seek God’s presence with us. For more information, email or call the Adult Ministry Office at the Church.
